Debate of Gay marriages

I disagree with Gay marriages. Before expressing my opinion, you have to think about the meaning of the Marriage. Do you know what does marriage mean in dictionary? I searched the dictionary, and I found the meaning about Marriage. That is “A marriage is the relationship between a husband and wife.” In the concrete, the meaning of husband is the man she is married to. Also wife means that the woman he is married to. You can find the word ‘He’, and ‘She’. The dictionary definitely declared the meaning of marriage that is between man and woman. I have three evidences about disagreeing with Gay marriages.

First, Marriage is historically prohibited by customs in many countries. Only few countries are allowed to marry between same sexes. In principle, the origin of marriage is from increase of a family. This is from human’s instinct. However, If we are allowed to the Gay Marriage, this is violate from human’s basis.

Second, Marriage is also historically religious institution. As most of the major religions in the world (e.g. Christianity, Islam and Judaism) exclude homosexuality itself, it would thus be unacceptable to extend the right to marry to gay couples.

At last, some psychiatrist issued about the Gay. There is a research from The American Psychiatric Association. They issued a document about homosexuality. This is one form of sexual behavior and, like other forms of sexual behavior which are not by themselves psychiatric disorders, is not listed in mental disorders. Their search showed that the basic meaning of the Gay.

My last Friday

Last Friday was cloudy and rainy. I went to the American house which held a party for the international students. I really like to meet the other students who have different culures and values. It was a chance to meet not only Interlink sutdent, but also the International students. Also I really like to enjoy food, and I heard that they would offer the American dinner for us. It made me excited.

I went to the American's house with Samuel, Rita and Hanseul by car. Because we went to the house early, we had to wait for the other students. While we waited for the students, I met the house owner, Tom. He was really kind and tried to remember my Korean name. It was hard to remember, especially for Americans, but he did it. After 20 minutes, almost 40 people were in the house. I met French, Spanish, Nigerian, and so on. It was special for me. We shook hands and introduced our name to each other.

Then, we had dinner. I thought that American food was only Hamburgers, Fired potatoes, and so on. However, it wasn't.I could try the hash potato with cheese, muffins, chickens, etc. I enjoyed this food with conversation. Some Americans introduced her church to me because I had an interest of the difference between Korean and American church. They were so kind and polite. I enjoyed that time.

After dinner, we had a discussion time. It taught me about the American common sense. An old American was cautious of our discussion. He maintained his opinion which is based on Christ. At that time, I caught the American is based on Puritanism, also I heard a lot of opinions from students who are from different country. I alwasy thought that diversity was the important thing of democratic country, and at that time, I felt that through the students who have different assertions.

That party reminded me a lot of things. I felt the difference and diversity through that party. It was really great experience

Story about my life

Last year I had to make a decision about my future and my life. It was about studying in America. There were two ways that I could go. Because I chose one way, I'm in this class now.

In Korea, Most 12th grades have to take a test like the SAT or GMAC in America. They study really hard to get admission to university. I was in that group.

When I was in 12th grade, I wanted to go to the Seoul National University which is the first university in Korea. I wanted to major in Physical Education, so I had to study a lot and prepare my major test that needed my health capacity. Every morning I woke up at 5:30am and went to my high school. After class, I had to go to the academy which helps to prepare the test. I usually came back at almost 1am. It was really hard and I had to fight with myself everyday.

Finally, I took the test like the SAT. I got a score that could apply to that university. The last thing was the physical test. I had time to prepare, almost a month. I exercised day and night. I wanted to give up because it was too hard.

The day was coming. It was January 3rd, 2008. I had enough confidence to take the test. I took the test and finally, I failed.

I went into a slump after the test. I regretted all of my mistakes and I didn't go out of my house for almost one week. I didn't do my best at that time. That made me crazy.

I had to make a decision about my direction. I could study one more year in Korea, and also I could study in America. I chose the last one and now I'm here.

I think that it will give me chance to study in America. I hope to find something special in America, and I'm looking for finding special things.

The starting point of my America life

This is first time to live another country. I made a decision to study English in Greensboro in 2008. When I arrived at PTI Airport, I really excited about my new life in America. I always lived in a metropolis which is capital of Korea. I lived in apartment like a match box. Also In Seoul where I lived before, there are so many buildings and cars including air pollutions. But when I went out of the airport, the air of Greensboro was really fresh and clean. At first time, I thought that it would be boring to live in a small town. But that thought was changed immediately after I went out of the airport. People were so kind and the weather was really good. I couldn’t expect that Greensboro is great city.

At first I arrived at Greensboro, I went to my house. I rent a house through my friend who lived in here. The house was really big, also had a backyard and garage. Because in Seoul, the city is really huge like New York or Tokyo, the land is limited and too expensive to live house like this one, so I couldn’t imagine that house. And near the house, there were a lake and park. Also I saw horses and cows near my home. It was a little strange.

I met my mother’s friend in PTI airport. He is a professor in A&T University. Actually, he helped me a lot of things to live here like driver license, house, car, insurance and so on. He took me to my home and other stores. When we went my house, then I saw a really strange situation. A flock of ducks was crossing the road. I didn’t know what was happening. It was really weird experience for me.

I went to Costco to buy something to eat. I was surprised at the cost of all products. It was much cheaper than my country. I think prices of commodities are not too expensive in Greensboro. I bought a lot of things like meat, rice, and etc. Also we went to the G mart which is Korean market. I was surprised because I found Korean word in some places. He told that there are three Korean market in Greensboro. I was really happy that there are possible to eat Kimchi and the other Korean food. After shopping, I was too tired and there was a time differences, so I took a nap almost 20 hour.

In my first image, Greensboro ‘was’ good city. And now, it is ‘be’. I love that city which is quiet and natural. And I change my plan. I’m going to study here and to transfer the other University In Greensboro. I hope that I get something precious of my life in this city.
